The Blue and John Crow Mountains National Park and World Heritage Site is managed by a Non-Government Organisation - the Jamaica Conservation and Development Trust (JCDT) in collaboration with the relevant government organisation - the National Environment and Planning Agency (NEPA). The National Park is about 41,000 hectares and provides a buffer around the centrally located World Heritage Site which is about 26,000 hectares. The World Heritage Site was inscribed for both cultural and natural heritage values in 2015 and management of the National Park and WHS involves signficant outreach to and involvement of local communities particularly the Windward Maroons whose cultural heritage is celebrated by the WH inscription.
