Pengetahuan untuk keanekaragaman hayati di Asia - menetapkan peta jalan untuk masa depan

Bagaimana kita dapat memanfaatkan pengetahuan secara lebih efektif untuk mendorong konservasi alam di Asia? Jaringan, platform, dan perangkat seperti apa yang kita perlukan untuk saling bertukar informasi? Bagaimana kita membangun pengetahuan dan kearifan masyarakat yang telah melindungi alam di tingkat lokal selama ribuan tahun? Dalam format apa kita mengemas dan membagikan apa yang kita pelajari?

Ini adalah beberapa pertanyaan yang didiskusikan oleh para peserta lokakarya regional Manajemen Pengetahuan untuk Keanekaragaman Hayati (KM4B) Asia baru-baru ini. Lokakarya yang diselenggarakan di Bangkok, Thailand oleh Sekretariat Konvensi Keanekaragaman Hayati PBB (CBD) bekerja sama dengan Pusat Keanekaragaman Hayati ASEAN ini mempertemukan para peserta dari lebih dari 20 negara di seluruh benua Asia yang mewakili pemerintah, masyarakat sipil, serta organisasi regional dan internasional.

Knowledge management underpins the success of the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework, by enabling the collection, organization, sharing, and application of biodiversity knowledge to support effective planning, policy development, implementation, monitoring and reporting. The regional workshops of the KM4B initiative help enhance countries’ knowledge management capacities by identifying common challenges, best practices and developing roadmaps. The workshop produced the “Knowledge Agenda for Biodiversity in Asian countries” outlining key steps across 10 priority areas, ranging from knowledge partnerships to infrastructures, which would support implementation of National Biodiversity Strategies and Action Plans (NBSAPs) and the Global Biodiversity Framework (GBF).     

The PANORAMA partnership worked closely with the CBD Secretariat, providing advice on the design of the workshops and presenting. PANORAMA as an established tool that can supports knowledge capture, exchange, analysis and dissemination. PANORAMA was introduced as a platform that, offers a neutral and inclusive space that elevates local practitioners’ knowledge to, inform national and global policy processes. By providing visibility to country-led biodiversity solutions, PANORAMA facilitates peer-to-peer learning through both online and offline formats. Its focus on capturing and sharing practitioners’ reflected insights complements data and information focused platforms and initiatives – an aspect positively highlighted by workshop participants.

PANORAMA partners will continue to support countries in Asia and beyond to anchor knowledge management in NBSAPs and support knowledge exchange for their implementation. Collaboration with the CBD Secretariat- formalized through a memorandum of understanding (MoU) - will also continue including to implement tagging of Solutions with relevant GBF targets, the interlinking of the PANORAMA platform with CBD-managed digital systems, and support on shaping the future of the KM4B initiative.
