Sierra del Abra Tanchipa Biosphere Reserve is a relevant corridor connecting tropical forest relicts of the Sierra Madre Oriental, a world hotspot of biodiversity. It plays a crucial role in connecting human communities. Due to extreme weather events related to climate change, CONANP is implementing an integrated, socio-environmental adaptation strategy, involving training and promotion of sustainable productive activities; and ecosystem restoration and maintenance, aimed to develop adaptive capacities within the human and wildlife communities to increase resilience.

Impacts
- Maintenance of important tropical forest ecosystem through corridors;
- maintenance of the ecosystem services, such as: polinization, climate regulation, aquifer recharge;
- local communities benefit from ecosystem services, through sustained social and economic gains of productive activities such as production of grains, fruits and sugarcane, as well as from local subsidies;
- through the training work offered by CONANP, the local communities increase their management capacities of their productive activities, as well as for self-organization, which can lead to greater capacities for decision making and planning in times of climate change-related crises.
