Bertrand Shancho

Ndimuh Bertrand Shancho is a Cameroonian conservationist and environmental leader with over 15 years of experience in community-based conservation and environmental management. He is the Founder and Executive Director of Voice of Nature (VoNat), Cameroon, a youth-led nonprofit advancing biodiversity conservation, climate action, landscape restoration, and community empowerment. He also founded Voice of Nature News, producing environmental articles, documentaries, and video reports. Ndimuh is a National Geographic Explorer and a member of the Amphibian Survival Alliance (ASA), with expertise in amphibian and primate conservation, habitat restoration, and community-based environmental solutions.

Over the past decade, he has empowered over 1,000 children and youth across Cameroon, training them in environmental education, storytelling, citizen science, and hands-on conservation across Mount Cameroon, Mount Nlonako, Mount Mbam, Bamenda Highlands, Douala, and Tiko Mangrove areas of the South West, Littoral, West and North West regions of Cameroon.

Ndimuh’s work has received extensive national and international recognition. In 2024, he was honored by The Guardian Post as one of Cameroon’s leading civil society changemakers. In 2025, he was recognized by the Climate and Development Knowledge Network (CDKN) as one of 12 remarkable African youth leading transformative climate action projects, and featured by the Global Diversity Foundation (GDF) among 16 grassroots conservation leaders in the Global South. He is also a recipient of the GIZ Restoration Academy Fellowship and has been featured in National Geographic Kids Explorer of the Month Magazine.

A dynamic, creative, and ambitious leader, Ndimuh has mentored hundreds of youth, inspiring the next generation of environmental champions. Beyond his professional work, he enjoys adventure, reading, singing, soccer, and spending time with family and friends.
