The International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) and the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ GmbH) recently signed a cooperation agreement to support peer-to-peer learning under the PANORAMA – Solutions for a Healthy Planet initiative.
The PANORAMA online platform features hundreds of peer-reviewed case studies describing successful approaches in nature conservation and sustainable development from around the world. Conservation practitioners contribute their own solutions, as well as learn from their peers on how to address conservation and development challenges. The PANORAMA initiative also supports knowledge exchange through workshops, communication products and webinars.
The agreement, signed by IUCN Director General Inger Andersen and GIZ Vice-Chair of the Management Board Dr Christoph Beier, provides a solid basis for further work undertaken by the two organisations. IUCN and GIZ coordinate the activities of the PANORAMA partnership, which also includes GRID-Arendal, UN Environment Programme, UN Development Programme, Rare and IFOAM - Organics International. Both organizations also lead or co-lead the various thematic communities of PANORAMA, promoting solutions related to protected areas, marine & coastal ecosystems, ecosystem-based adaptation, agriculture & biodiversity and business engagement.
