A marine scientist by training, I have been involved with coral reef monitoring, conservation, and management for the past 13 years working with Reef Check Malaysia.  I have spent the past decade living on Tioman island and working  with the local community to involve them is conservation efforts and to promote co-management of the Tioman island Marine  Protected Area.
