We are TEG, a youth conservation organization located in Morogoro region. TEG has been active and registered since 2014 and has trained over 250 youth groups in conservation and environment issues over the last six years. Our vision is to work with young people, as champions of change within their communities. In turn, they work with their families and neighbours to drive the protection of biodiversity around their homes.
Our focus is the Eastern Arc of Morogoro, which is one of the most biodiversity areas in Africa, with a spectacular array flora and fauna. The beautiful mountains that make up the Eastern Arc are also a secret gem for hiking and tourism. However, over recent years, there has been significant deforestation and population encroachment into this protected resource. TEG's work is to work closely with communities, respecting local culture to drive change.
Our hard-working young people use innovative ways to help communities value their environment and recognise the value of the ecosystem around them. One example is our Yajue Mazingira initiative to take young people up into the mountains to help them learn about biodiversity and conservation. We also run bespoke trips into the mountains to fund-raise for our community activities. To find out more, www.tengenezageneration.org
