The Roving Ranger is designed to serve as a visitor contact and information center both within the Golden Gate National Parks and outside the park in local communities. National Park Service, Parks Conservancy, and Presidio Trust employees staff the vehicle to provide information about park sites, internship opportunities, park events, volunteer programs, and more.

Impacts

The truck includes a walk-up window, work space, mini-library, and sound system. Once used as bread truck, the Roving Ranger demonstrates sustainability and recycling. Recycled and second-hand materials from a variety park sites were used to build all the interior fixtures and to provide an opportunity for visitors to learn more about park resources. The Roving Ranger has met 15,000 people and counting since it first hit the road in 2013.
