Dr. Shaikhom Inaotombi is presently working as an Advisor under the project “Protection and Sustainable Management of Aquatic Resources in the Northeastern Himalayan Region of India implement by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit GIZ GmbH.
He worked as full-time consultant at Ministry of Environment Forest & Climate Change, Govt. of India with the assignment on technical appraisal for publication of notifications for declaring Eco-sensitive Zone (ESZ) around the Protected Areas e.g. National Parks, Wildlife Sanctuaries, Tiger Reserves in the country, in official Gazette. He has 10 years research experiences in the field of Aquatic Environment and Chemical Ecology. Having National Post Doctoral Fellowship of SERB-DST in 2017-18 from Directorate of Coldwater Fisheries Research Uttarakhand, keen interest in revealing how aquatic organism and ecosystem responding to chemicals and climatic stresses.
During the tenure of his PhD, Dr Shaikhom demonstrates the trophic level of the Himalayan Lakes and reproduces a novel approach for controlling the eutrophication. He determines the fate and dynamics of metallic elements in mountainous water body for better understanding of their potential and actual mobility.
