Tony Nello is currently working as an economics specialist in IUCN-Regional office for Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean’s. He is in charge of coordinating the implementation of LandScale assessment framework in Costa Rica in collaboration with VERRA, Rainforest Alliance and CCBA. Before joining IUCN staff, Tony worked as an external consultant with the Union to carry out the Restoration Opportunity Assessment Methodology (ROAM) assessments in Honduras and El Salvador and to perform financial analysis of mangrove restoration in Guatemala. The key tools and methodology used while realizing these analyses were: Cost-Benefit Analysis, Multi-criteria analysis, ecosystem services modelling (InVEST), greenhouse gases assessment.

Before getting involved with IUCN, Tony worked with local and international NGOs in the field of energy efficiency, business model and business plan development, carbon finance and organic agriculture.  Throughout its career, Tony has been especially involved in the following agricultural supply chains: coffee, cocoa, beekeeping, sacha-inchi (Inca Nuts), ginger, turmeric.

Tony speaks French (native), Spanish and English. After graduating with a Bachelor of Economics in Caen University (France), Tony joined the 3A Business and development school to obtain a Master in Business Administration.
