The PANORAMA Ambassadors Programme 2025 is now open for applications! We invite committed individuals from around the world to join a global knowledge management movement and network dedicated to scaling up success in biodiversity conservation and sustainable development.

About the Programme and PANORAMA

The PANORAMA Ambassadors Programme is a voluntary engagement designed to empower a diverse group of professionals to act as champions of the PANORAMA – Solutions for a Healthy Planet initiative. Ambassadors help promote, document, and share biodiversity conservation and sustainable development solutions while expanding regional and thematic reach. This year’s programme will usher in a bold new cohort for a vibrant and global network of practitioners, policy influencers, academics and community leaders, to act as champions for PANORAMA’s methodology and approach to Solutions in tackling the global biodiversity crises.

The 2025 programme is also closely aligned with the historical collaborative efforts between the PANORAMA initiative and the Secretariat of the of the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) towards implementation of the Knowledge Management Strategy of the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework (GBF). Ambassadors will play a key role in promoting and applying scalable, real-world Solutions that support national and global biodiversity goals.

The PANORAMA – Solutions for a Healthy Planet is a partnership initiative, grounded in its vision of nurturing a global community where changemakers share, adopt, and scale-up inspiring Solutions for a healthy planet. Lead by IUCN and GIZ, the initiative is backed by a powerful alliance of reputable international development and environmental organizations including the, UNEP, UNDP, GRID-Arendal, World Bank, OCTO, ICOMOS, ICCROM and IFOAM Organics International The partnership is supported by IKI Initiative, GEF and the Norwegian Ministry of Climate and Environment.

The Role of a PANORAMA Ambassador

Selected Ambassadors will wear many hats such as, knowledge brokers, trainers, policy advocates, regional focal points, and storytellers. They will include but not limited to:

  • Source, document and promote impactful conservation solutions
  • Facilitate knowledge-sharing events and training workshops for capacity building
  • Engage with policymakers to promote PANORAMA’s methodology to national and global biodiversity goals (NBSAP) and GBF implementation
  • Strengthen ties with local governments, NGOs, grassroots organizations and academic institutions to amplify their solutions
  • Represent PANORAMA in regional and global forums including CBD COPs and the IUCN World Conservation Congress 2025

Ambassadors will also be part of regionally based networks or clusters to promote peer learning, collaboration and local impact while staying closely connected to the global PANORAMA community.

Who Should Apply?

The programme is open to individuals with demonstrated leadership in biodiversity conservation or environmental policy. Candidates must have a strong commitment to knowledge sharing, community engagement, and solution-oriented work. Priority will be given to applicants from biodiversity-rich or underrepresented regions, particularly youth, Indigenous Peoples, women, and members of local communities.

Key selection criteria include:

  • Professional expertise in conservation, development or policy
  • Proven ability to participate in and influence policy dialogues
  • Proven experience in community engagement, knowledge management, capacity-building or biodiversity-related initiatives
  • Strong networks and communication skills to engage with stakeholders
  • Commitment to contributing Solutions and engaging in regional activities
  • Technological access for virtual collaboration and training
  • Geographic and thematic diversity

How to Join 

The next cohort of PANORAMA Ambassadors will be officially announced at the IUCN World Conservation Congress in 2025. Applications are currently open and selected candidates will participate in onboarding and training ahead of Congress.
