A new behavior-centered guide identifies the behavioral insights behind common trends in smallholder farmer behavior.

Why are farmers reluctant to experiment with new methods and inputs? Why is investing into soil regeneration or water conservation postponed in favor of immediate livelihood concerns? Tapping into farmers’ motivations and barriers takes us closer to solutions grounded in behaviorally informed insights. Explore case studies from four countries with data measuring the rate of behavior adoption.

Rare’s Behavior Change for Agriculture Guide was created in collaboration with the International Center for Tropical Agriculture (CIAT) and the Consultative Group on International Agricultural Research (CGIAR).

If you are interested in learning more about behavior-centered design and how to apply it to your programs, join Rare’s Center for Behavior & the Environment for a virtual training on March 29-31, 2022. Register today! You can also drop us a line with your feedback here: behavior@rare.org
