I graduated from the Autonomous University of Baja California as a Biologist, focusing on ecology and resource management. Subsequently, I completed my postgraduate degree studies at the Ensenada Center for Scientific Research and Higher Education in the Department of Marine Ecology where I worked in the assessment of data-poor fisheries in Mexico. I have experience developing marine and terrestrial conservation projects with NGOs, with more than five years of experience working with fishing communities in the northwestern region of Mexico, especially with elasmobranch fisheries and currently bony fishes. At present, I work as Curator in Comunidad y Biodiversidad, A. C. (COBI) (www.cobi.org.mx), a civil society organization with the mission of promoting the conservation of marine biodiversity and the establishment of sustainable fisheries through effective participation. At COBI, I am responsible for developing multi-species fisheries improvement projects in northwestern Mexico.
