Rare is a global conservation organization whose mission is to inspire change so people and nature thrive. Rare implements proven conservation solutions and trains local conservation leaders in communities worldwide. Through its signature “Pride” behavior change campaigns, Rare inspires communities to take pride in the species and habitats that make their community unique, while also introducing practical alternatives to environmentally destructive practices. Employees of local governments or non-profit organizations receive extensive training on natural resource management, campaign planning and social marketing. They are equipped to deliver community-based solutions based on natural and social science, while leveraging policy and market forces to accelerate positive environmental change through programs in clean water, sustainable agriculture, and coastal fisheries.

The Colombia program focuses on developing local governance of water in the upper watersheds of the Andes if Colombia. We do this by training local leaders and local government entities on how to effectively engage local communities and watershed's stakeholders to actively participate in the design and implementation of watershed management solutions, including improved land use upstream, better use and management of riparian forests and sustainable use of natural resources
