A passionate wildlife conservationist with over a decade of experience. Godfrey became STEP’s Protection Manager in 2023, having previously held the positions of Senior Protection Officer and Forest Protection Coordinator since joining STEP in 2017. Godfrey has been instrumental to the development of STEP’s forest protection projects with Uzungwa Scarp and Kilombero Forest Nature Reserves, and now oversees STEP’s aerial work, protection support across the Ruaha-Rungwa and Udzungwa landscapes, and play key role in ensuring local communities are involved in protection activities enhancing benefits and ownership. Before joining STEP, he worked as Head of Anti-Poaching, Conservation, and Environment at Ikona Wildlife Management Area and as Assistant Coordinator at the Serengeti Development Research and Conservation Centre. He has a Bachelor’s degree in Wildlife Management from The College of African Wildlife Management Mweka and a Master’s degree in Community Development and Project Management from the University of Iringa.
