Misomali Conservation Trust is a community based organization in Phalombe District Traditional Authority Nkhulambe aimed at restoration of degraded forest land within the area to enhance biodiversity, ecosystem services as well as climate change mitigation. In additional to that, the group also protects and conserve the existing tree species around Michesi Mountain which is a government protected area. The group started in 2018 and it was indorsed by government through Phalombe District Forestry Office. People within and around the area mobilized themselves after noticing rampant deforestation, charcoal burning and illegal movement of forestry products such as timber from the protected forest hence the formation of the trust. The group has 26 members to date and all members of the communities are involved in all the restoration and protection activities.
