Protected Areas Manager

Lilian Apaza Vargas, is a biologist, graduated from the Universidad Mayor de San Andrés in Bolivia, with the thesis "Comparative study of the hunting and use of mammals in two Tsimane indigenous communities". He worked in environmental organizations in Bolivia, such as Conservation International (CI), Environmental Protection Tarija (PROMETA), Friends of Nature Foundation (FAN), in the areas of municipal management, protected areas and climate change, to promote actions for conservation and sustainable development in different territorial entities , at this stage, planning tools are published and a fund management event "Environmental Municipalities" is created. With this advance he holds a Master in "Environmental Management and Audits", at the University of León in Spain, with the thesis "Municipal Environmental Action Plans: An efficient tool for environmental management of the municipalities in Bolivia?", In the which highlights the role of municipalities in the management of protected areas. In 15 years of experience has generated synergies with different actors in the management of protected areas, as well as the implementation of tools such as: Evaluation of Management Effectiveness, Open Standards, Economic Analysis, among others. Her experience in protected areas has been considered, to be designated in 2017 as an evaluator of the "Program of Support for the Sustainable Conservation of Biodiversity (PACSBio)", for the Delegation of the European Union in Bolivia. Currently, she is part of the Natura Bolivia Foundation, as a protected areas manager.
