Martin Obermaier is an international expert with GOPA Consultants in Mauritania where he supports the GIZ "Co-management of marine, coastal and terrestrial resources" programme. Prior to this he has been a post-Doctoral Research Associate at Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ), with a MSC in Economics from Freie Universität Berlin (2005) and a DSc in Energy and Environmental Planning from UFRJ (2011). I moderated a community of practice on dryland adaptation with over 600 international experts, and have acted as consultant to the World Bank, West African Development Bank, OECD, IEA, BNDES, and GOPA. I am lead or contributing author to over 40 international and national publications, including high-impact global assessment reports (UCCRN Climate Change and Cities, 2016, and UNEP GEO5, 2011).
