Projeto
TerraMar
The TerraMar Project is a partnership between the Brazilian Ministry of the Environment (MMA), the Chico Mendes Institute for Biodiversity Conservation (ICMBio), and the German Ministry of the Environment, Nature Conservation, Nuclear Safety and Consumer Protection (BMUV), in the context of the International Climate Initiative (IKI, acronym in German), and implemented by Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH.
Considering the connections between terrestrial and marine environments, the Project aims to strengthen integrated environmental management, combat marine litter, and promote the conservation and sustainable use of coastal and marine biodiversity.
We work with several local partners to implement actions at the Brazilian coast, mainly in two regions which shelter a rich diversity of plants, animals, ecosystems and communities: Abrolhos (Bahia and Espírito Santo) and Costa dos Corais (Pernambuco and Alagoas).
