Forde
Dr. Xavier Forde is of the Māori tribes of Ngāti Huia, Raukawa and Ngāti Toa Rangatira of Aotearoa New Zealand. He works for Manatū Taonga, the Ministry for Culture and Heritage of Aotearoa New Zealand, facilitating tribal projects that support the preservation, development, and revitalisation of Māori traditional knowledge, after 7 years spent managing the national recognition of sacred and ancestral places of significance to Māori. He also works at the Te Kotahi Research Institute in research and capacity building initiatives that support the aspirations of Iwi, Māori and Indigenous communities. Xavier is on the Board of ICOMOS NZ and co-chairs its Māori Heritage Committee, and is looking for opportunities to collaborate with first nations peoples around the world to develop better heritage practices that support their cultural revitalisation and self-determination.
