Huchuy Qosqo
Parwa Restaurant is owned and led by Huchuy Qosqo community members, located in the Sacred Valley (district of Lamay, province of Calca) in Cusco Perú. It is a community-based tourism enterprise promoted by the Planeterra Foundation and launched in 2014. In 2015 it was considered the most successful community tourism enterprise by the Multilateral Investment Fund of the Interamerican Development Bank.
Huchuy Qosqo community is integrated by 60 Quechua families, majority women dedicated to agriculture and farming activities.
Parwa Restaurant services are based on traditional Peruvian and regional cuisine fusion, helping the Peruvian gastronomy and cuisine as intangible heritage which in recent years has been revalued and has managed to position itself as one of the important tourism assets in Peru. In 2019 Parwa restaurant hosted more than 20,000 visitors from all around the world, generating a revenue of +200,000 USD.
All the management, administration and operational staff are community residents themselves. Who They were trained in tourism restaurant service, food and beverages preparation and handling, quality service, customer service, business administration, among others, all these these skills prepare the residentsin order to be able to run their own business and generate their own employment. All profits that the community get raise through the Parwa restaurant are destined to the investmentinvested in social projects into the community, which allow to increase the local economic development and to generatgeneratee sustainable solutions for the territory.
