As part of Wilderness Safaris, ‘Children in the Wilderness’ is an environmental and life skills educational programme for children, focusing on the next generation of decision-makers:inspiring them to care for their natural heritage and to become custodians of these areas in the future. CITW operates Eco-Clubs in communities living in and around protected areas, as well as annual camps, Eco-Mentor training, and scholarship programmes.

Impacts

At the end of 2014 CITW had hosted over 5 600 children on annual camps and our Eco-Clubs reach over 2 500 children each year. In total we have over 6000 CITW Eco-Club alumni since introducing the Eco-Clubs in 2012. In 2014, CITW supported 51 Eco-Clubs, funded 287 scholarships for needy students, trained 109 teachers, and ensured that 1415 children were fed on our nutrition programme.
