Çankaya Municipality
The “Building a Climate Change Resilient City through Empowering Women” project funded within the context of the Town Twinning Action Between Turkey and the EU Grant Scheme was implemented by Çankaya Municipality with the technical support of the Nature Conservation Centre (DKM) and in partnership with Frankfurt Municipality and the Association of Women Mukhtars. The overall goal of the project was to combat climate change in urban areas through training and empowering women to become active pioneers in climate-related issues and projects. The project focused on creating an enabling environment where women are effectively integrated into local decision-making processes and duly considered in climate change policies.

Impacts
- The Nature Conservation Centre (DKM) provided training to more than 200 women on topics including the causes and impacts of anthropogenic climate change and what can be done to address the issue. Training content was tailored to the target audience.
- Training was provided to kindergarten teachers working in the kindergartens of Çankaya Municipality. These events focused on capacitating teachers to teach the subject of climate change to pre-school children using various methods including games.
- Training was also provided to the instructors and managers of Çankaya Municipality’s Public Training Centres as well as staff working in the Directorates of Parks and Gardens, Environmental Protection and Control and the Services for Women and Family.
- Training materials and booklets were published and disseminated.
