As the biodiversity conservation landscape evolves, the need for scalable, adaptable and knowledge-driven Solutions has never been greater. As a global knowledge partnership and ‘go-to’ resource for supporting the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework (GBF), PANORAMA builds on its decade-long history and will continue to connect with conservation practitioners, policymakers, and innovators worldwide, ensuring that tested Solutions are widely accessible and actively applied.

This year will be marked by targeted regional engagements, global partnerships, and high-impact events, positioning PANORAMA as a leading force in biodiversity knowledge management, learning and exchange.

Regional knowledge-sharing workshops: Championing change at grassroots level

In 2025, PANORAMA partners will host targeted regional workshops to support knowledge exchange on priority learning topics, supporting the implementation of National Biodiversity Strategies and Action Plans (NBSAPs) and matching learning needs with existing Solutions. These workshops will be held in Namibia, Peru and Indonesia, with at least one workshop foreseen in another partner country. They are an important step forward in localising PANORAMA’s approach, complementing existing national and regional learning networks.

Upgrading the web platform

Following the complete revamp of the PANORAMA online platform in 2024, this year will bring further improvements to the platform, making it even more user-friendly, inclusive and accessible: For example, an auto-translation tool will enable users to view the Solutions on the platform in any of 30 languages.

Global influence: PANORAMA at major international events

In 2025, PANORAMA will be participating in a host of global biodiversity events. The IUCN World Conservation Congress which will be held in Abu Dhabi (October 9-15, 2025). As a premier platform and marketplace for biodiversity conservation knowledge, this event will provide a platform to discuss PANORAMA’s methodology, share success stories, and foster new collaborations with conservation leaders from around the world. (Contact us if you are interested in partnering for the Congress!)

Strengthening partnerships and collaborations for Knowledge Management Leadership

This year, PANORAMA will further strengthen its collaboration with the Secretariat of the Convention on Biological Diversity (SCBD) to support the implementation of the Global Biodiversity Framework. The PANORAMA methodology will be integrated into SCBD’s Knowledge Management for Biodiversity (KM4B) regional workshops in Asia and Africa, expanding its reach and supporting effective knowledge-sharing practices among CBD parties.

Reflecting on 2024: A foundation for growth

PANORAMA’s ambitious outlook for 2025 builds on the milestones achieved in 2024, a year that underscored its role as a leader in conservation knowledge management, exchange and capacity development.

Some highlights from 2024 include:

  • A decade of PANORAMA: In 2024, PANORAMA celebrated its 10-year anniversary.
  • Relaunching the PANORAMA web platform: After having received over one million visits, it was time to retire the old PANORAMA web platform. The new platform was launched in March 2024 based on extensive research about user needs and behaviour. Since its launch, engagement has significantly improved, with bounce rates seeing a notable decline of approximately 25 percent. Additionally, PANORAMA’s reach has expanded beyond its traditional strongholds in the United States and Europe. Now, the top 10 visitor countries include a more geographically diverse mix, with strong engagements from countries like India, Peru, Colombia and Kenya featuring along with the United States and other European countries.
  • Disseminating Solution knowledge: The ‘Solutions in Focus’ publication series was extended with two new issues, highlighting success stories on other effective area-based conservation measures in DRC (in French), and on forest landscape restoration policy.
  • Fostering innovation in conservation through the Tech4Nature Award: Launched at the IUCN Leaders Forum (October 2024), this award, which was hosted and received its applications through the PANORAMA web platform, celebrates digital solutions for biodiversity conservation. The winners will be announced at the IUCN World Conservation Congress 2025.

2025 is set to be a transformative year for PANORAMA. Explore Solutions and join us in shaping the future of biodiversity conservation. Together we can turn knowledge into action.
