Lydia is a Lecturer and researcher at the University of Dar Es Salaam, School of Aquatic Sciences and Fisheries Technology. She has more than 10 years of professional experience in teaching, research, and consultancy in marine fisheries and socio-ecological systems, Fishers' traditional knowledge, marine protected areas, conservation, and development. She has a good understanding, with broad knowledge, of the dynamics in tropical small-scale fisheries, fisheries governance, and management as well as capacity building in marine fisheries resources. Lydia has experience in teaching various courses at the undergraduate level and she has supervised a number of undergraduate and postgraduate students in different areas related to marine fisheries systems dynamics and aquatic pollution. She has sound experience in technical aspects of histological analysis, Underwater Visual Census, determination of organic pollutants in environmental samples using GC/MS, and writing grant-seeking proposals and publishable papers.  Lydia is an active member of various professional institutions, networks, and associations and has been awarded a number of grants, and prizes for working diligently.
