b)Existence of an area development plan and Local Development Committee (LDC)

The terroir is governed by members of the local and indigenous communities, brought together in the Local Development Committee (CLD).

The Local Development Committee (CLD) is the body in which all decisions relating to the management of the terroir are taken.

Management through the CLD is participative.

The terroir is set up for community management of the land, which is subject to rational and coherent planning.

Collaboration with ANAPAC and existence of a local site management structure (APACLI)

The site is traditionally managed by the customary authorities of the Luwe-Itota Aboriginal and Community Heritage Area (APACLI).

APACLI brings together all the customary authorities and heads of landowning families.

The creation of APACLI as a management body allows all families to participate in the management of the site.

APAC Luwe-Itota is governed by local communities and indigenous peoples

Access to and use of natural resources are based on traditional and customary rules and practices.

Traditional ways of using natural resources contribute to biodiversity conservation.

Collaboration with ANAPAC at national level

ANAPAC is the National Alliance for the Support and Promotion of Indigenous and Community Heritage Areas and Territories.

Membership of ANAPAC helps strengthen governance and the promotion of cultural and spiritual values in the area.

Support from APAC helps promote APAC.
